EIT has launched a URL shortener ter.ps that allows faculty, staff, and students to create and share University of Maryland-branded links in email, Facebook, Twitter, and other communications.  Ter.ps provides the ability to create custom links, track URL clicks, as well as generate links from a bookmarklet which you can drag to your browser’s bookmarks toolbar.

The idea responsible for the ter.ps’ creation came from a student, who suggested that implementing a UM-based URL shortener would enhance the university’s social networking presence and provide insight into our online influence.

You can get started creating your own ter.ps links by visiting http://ter.ps and pasting a long URL into the ter.ps URL shortener box. Simply copy the resulting ter.ps link, and use it in your next tweet!
